OnlyPlans

How groups, plans, voting and access work.

Getting started

What is OnlyPlans?

One shared place for your group chat’s plans. Create your group and get a link to share in your group chat. Anyone who has that link can see all the group’s plans and can add plans, add date/time/place options, vote, and lock things in. No one has to be the event planner.

Do I need an account?

Yes. All you need is to enter your email address. You login by entering the code we send to your email. This allows you to login to your OnlyPlans from any device. There is no password. You pick a different display name for each group.

How do I start a group?

Click Make plans, name the group, pick its city. The city sets the time zone plan times are read in, so pick where the plans typically happen for your group, not where you personally are at the moment.

How do people join?

Send them the group link. They sign in once and pick a name. The link allows anyone to access your group and see your plans, so be careful where you send the link.

Using OnlyPlans

What’s a plan?

A plan is composed of 3 main fields: an activity, a time, and a place. All fields are optional, but a plan needs at least one to be specified.

Example: You’re chatting with your friends about wanting to go kayaking sometime. So you create a “Kayaking” plan, and enter some options for times and places. Everyone in the group votes on their preferred time and place.

How does voting work?

Each field is voted on separately, so you can pick a time and a place in the same plan. One vote per person per field, changeable any time. Anyone in the group can lock a field, and locking settles the leading option.

What does “locked in” mean, and can we change our minds?

A plan is locked in when every field it has is settled. If you change your mind, you can reopen the vote by tapping Edit on a locked in field to add more options.

What’s the difference between reacting and saying I’m in?

Reactions don’t affect the plan. “I’m in” and “Can’t make it” are your RSVP options. Reactions are just for fun.

Can I put it in my calendar?

Once a plan has a settled time, you can click Add to calendar and choose Google or Apple Calendar.

What happens to past plans?

Past plans move to History and become read-only.

Privacy and access

Who can see our plans?

Anyone with the group link can see all the plans. Group links aren’t listed or searchable. Your display name is visible to everyone in the group. No one can see your email address.

What if someone forwards our group link?

Be careful where you share your group link. If someone has access that you don’t want, you can generate a new link by choosing New group link. Your plans will not be affected. You can also choose to Remove someone which will take their access away and make a new link in the same step.

If I share one plan outside the group, what can they do?

A person that has a plan link but not the group link can see that plan, react to it, and RSVP. They can’t vote, and they never see the group or its other plans. This is great if you want to invite a plus one or someone who isn’t part of your main group chat!

Ugh I hate signing up. Are you going to spam my inbox?

We only use email to send you your login code, and your confirmation code if you change your email address. Nothing else. We do not share your name, email, or any other information with third parties nor do we use your email for anything else.

Managing your stuff

How do I remove someone?

Tap the faces in the group header, then Remove next to their name, and type their name to confirm. It makes a new group link in the same step, so the one they have stops working. Anyone in the group can do this; there are no admins.

How do I leave a group?

Click on the three dot menu near the group title and select Leave group from the dropdown menu.

What happens to my votes if I leave or get removed?

They stay, with your name on them. A plan that locked in keeps the votes that decided it. You keep any plan links you already have, and can still react and RSVP on those.

Can I change my name, or my email?

You can change your name and your email address on your account page. Your display name is set per group. Changing your email requires entering two confirmation codes: one to confirm your current email address, and another for the new one.

Can I delete a plan, or a whole group?

You can delete a plan or a group by clicking on the three dots and choosing Delete. You will need to confirm group deletion by typing the group name. DANGER: Deleting a group deletes all the plans within and there is no way to undo deletion.

What if the last person leaves a group?

The group and its plans stay. Anyone with the link can rejoin with the link.
